Late last month, UNO Hockey announced the hiring of new assistant coach Mike Guentzel. Guentzel comes to Omaha after serving last season as the head coach and general manager of the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League.
The hiring gives the Mavs a coaching staff in Dean Blais, Mike Hastings and Guentzel who have experience at all levels of hockey including USHL, NCAA, NHL, and International play.

The Union has a slightly new look for students returning to campus.
"We had a lot of new changes with The Union and school over the summer," said Jennifer Dowie, a junior early childhood education major and new student orientation leader in The Union.
The most noticeable transformations are the north and south expansion concepts on the west side of The Union.

Over the summer Mike Catagui, a tenured professor at SDSU was fired from his position as extension entomologist. Both Catangui's side and the university have said that one reason for his firing was because his recommendations for spraying for soybean aphids differed from the State's recommendation.

Madison College alumnus, Sabrina Madison, has always turned a deaf ear to things like, "that's impossible" or "let someone else take care of it." Those thoughts are a waste of time in her busy schedule.
"What can I do?" Madison asks herself instead.
Since she came to Madison Area Technical College in 2007, it has been clear that Madison is capable of doing quite a lot.
