Does life imitate art? Or does art imitate life? Rachel Bernstein, attempts to make life and art one in a production she is directing called "Rented Bodies." The show is loosely based upon the musical, "Rent." However, Bernstein has found a way to make the once controversial production fresher and more personal.

"Movin' Out" is the brainchild of Twyla Tharp's creativity and Billy Joel's musical genius. Tharp directed and choreographed the production that ran on Broadway for 1303 performances. The show is a jukebox musical, which means all the songs were recorded before the show made it to the stage. "Movin' Out" stands out against the crowd of Broadway musicals because it boasts a Piano Man and a band suspended above the stage who provide the dialogue and vocals for the entire performance. Five main dancers act as friends who grow with each other over a twenty-year time span from the Vietnam War era until the '80s.
I had the opportunity to speak with the lead dancer from "Movin' Out," Marc Heitzman. We spoke about his new role in the touring production, his days as a nutcracker, and what dancing means to him.

This week, I had a perfectly nice Tuesday afternoon ruined by the news that my new least favorite network was cancelling "Life on Mars," my favorite new show. Thanks, ABC. While, unlike it did with "Dirty Sexy Money," the network will air the remainder of the season, allowing the viewers closure, reading the news in the Ausiello Files (the source of all serious news, move over New York Times) made me realize just how attached I had gotten to the show.

As someone who nurtured adolescent dreams of writing about rock stars moreso than about becoming one, I've often pondered the distinction between "critic" and "fan." It's an unfair and fuzzy distinction, to be sure, but valuable for parsing certain listening tendencies.
